About the Condition of our Trip 35 film camera:

Being nearly 50 years old, the Olympus Trip 35 typically shows some signs of use, but each camera is carefully selected and refurbished. We categorize them into two conditions based on appearance.

🌟🌟🌟 Excellent (Like New)
Near mint appearance with only minimal cosmetic signs of age. Ideal as a gift or for collectors.

🌟 Good (Minor Blemish)
Light cosmetic signs of previous use — such as faint scuffs, hairline scratches, or minor paint loss.

I disassembled this Trip 35 and gave it a thorough service, removing the old synthetic leather and rewrapping the body in wasabi green shrink leather.

📸For night or low-light photography, consider using a flash. An optional flash unit is available for purchase if you need one.

<About Olympus Trip35>

The Olympus Trip 35 is a compact 35mm film camera released in 1968 by Japanese camera manufacturer Olympus. The developers designed this camera with the concept of "a camera that allows you to take pictures with the press of a single button”. It was named "Trip" as a 35mm film camera that could be easily taken on short trips, and was highly popular for 20 years with its high image quality, ease of use, and low failure rate until production was discontinued in 1984. Unlike the PEN series of half-frame cameras developed at the same time, this 35mm film camera is capable of shooting at full 35mm size.

There are many appealing features of this 35mm film camera, but one is its compactness. In addition to fitting in one hand, it weighs only 410 grams, making it extremely light. Its size and lightness make it easy to carry around with you, and you can quickly pull it out when you want to take a picture.

The Olympus Trip 35 has  the D.Zuiko 40mm f/2.8 single-focal length lens, which is attached to the body of the camera. It's a very excellent lens.

It's also very easy to operate. No batteries are needed, and by setting the aperture to A (auto), all you have to do is wind the 35mm film around the camera, focus and release the shutter. And although it's easy to operate, its descriptive power is comparable to that of a single-lens reflex camera.

However, it is not a DSLR camera and the lens is not removable. Also, the viewfinder is not attached to the lens, but to the body of the camera (rangefinder). For focusing, it is necessary to adjust the approximate distance to the subject by eye measurement. But you can focus on the subject in a rough, intuitive way, and you'll get the picture just fine. You'll get used to it in no time. When shooting in dark places, an external strobe is required.

<Lens>

The Olympus TRIP 35  is equipped with the D.Zuiko 40mm f/2.8 lens. This lens is slightly wider than a normal lens, called a standard lens, so it allows you to take photos in a slightly wider area than what is visible to the eye. It is said to be a very easy to use Angle of view and is an excellent lens for any situation.

<Shutter speed>

When the aperture is set to A(auto), the aperture is automatically set to 1/30 or 1/250 second; when the aperture is set to F, the aperture is fixed at 1/30 second.

<Focusing>

Focusing is done by the zone focus system. When you take a picture, visually measure the distance to your subject and select an icon close to that distance to make adjustments. There are four levels of zone focus: 1m, 1.5m, 3m and infinity. Just turn the dial to select the focus mode and the camera will focus on the subject by itself.

<Exposure>

Exposure is automatic. The decorative shiny areas around the lens are solar cells (selenium photovoltaic) that generate electricity from light. This battery is what makes the exposure meter work. If the camera is underexposed, a red plate will appear in the viewfinder and the shutter cannot be released. This means that your photos won't turn white or black due to underexposure. The Olympus TRIP 35 film camera is a beginner-friendly camera.
